About the Friends of the Albion District Library

Albion’s library building was constructed in 1919 as one of many Carnegie libraries across the nation.  This building was comprised of three floors, totaling slightly more than 5,000 square feet.  In 1976, a 12,000 square foot addition was constructed to match the lovely original architecture.  In 2002, the Children’s Library floor was renovated.  In total the current facility holds approximately 17,800 square feet.

Friends of the Albion District Library started in 1971.  Our purpose is to support our library with volunteerism and fundraising.  Early on, Friends raised funds by hosting dinners in their homes.  Guests were invited to dinner and a donation to the library.
